Île de Bendor: The Riviera’s Private Island Hotel

Dreaming of the South of France this summer? Île de Bendor sits off the coast of Provence and embodies the Mediterranean spirit. Upon arrival, you can expect old-world glamor with no cars and no day-trippers.

On May 1, 2026, Zannier Hotels opened the island’s first true luxury hotel. Ninety-three rooms, split across three distinct concepts, and all accessible only by private boat transfer. It is the most interesting luxury opening on the French Riviera this year.

The island premise

What’s brilliant about Île de Bendor is this: you are either on the island or you are not, and the people who are not cannot simply wander in.

Île de Bendor is seven hectares. Zannier has developed it carefully, with pathways through the pines, a private beach, and Mediterranean architecture. This new property revolves around four pillars: wellbeing, spa, movement, and nutrition – in fact, at 1200 sqm, it has one of the largest spas in the region.

And it doesn’t stop there. Considered “One Miniature World,” you’ll find a variety of sports on the island, adventure and water activities, outstanding Provençal gastronomy and oenology, motorsports and adrenaline activities, cultural immersions, and wellbeing journeys. There is truly something at Île de Bendor for everyone.

Three concepts

The 93 rooms divide across three distinct zones, each with its own identity.

Delos

Delos draws from the 1960s Riviera: warm palettes, chic atmospheres, and a time when the Mediterranean coast was a retreat for writers and photographers. This is the social anchor of the property. Guests here are choosing a version of the Riviera that no longer exists anywhere else.

Soukana

Soukana is the wellness-focused concept that’s quieter and faces the sea. It is designed for longer stays and for guests who want the island to slow them down rather than entertain them. The programming skews toward retreat: rest, movement, food that functions as nourishment.

Madrague

Madrague consists of five two-storey houses, each with a walled private garden and independent access to the waterfront. This is a great option for multi-generational families and small groups who want to lean into the rustic Provençal charm.

The tiered model extends the property’s range without diluting it. The same island can serve a honeymoon couple in Delos and a family compound in Madrague, making it a unique, well-thought-out design.

Why This Summer

Zannier Île de Bendor opened May 1. First-season stays carry their own form of exclusivity: the ability to experience somewhere exquisite before it becomes the Riviera’s hardest reservation.

Access granted

Île de Bendor is not yet on the standard Riviera circuit. That changes this summer, and the window for booking it before it is fully mainstream is measured in weeks, not months.

Rate Travel Club has direct access to Zannier Île de Bendor’s summer 2026 inventory. Our Travel Designers can arrange the private boat transfer, coordinate with the property on concept selection, book you a table at one of the three restaurants on site, schedule a flotation ritual treatment, and build a broader Provence itinerary around it: a Bandol wine producer visit, time on the water, or simply the kind of unscheduled days that a private island, done right, can provide.
