A Fall Escape in the Highlands

You may have heard of the Scottish Highlands, but have you heard of the Highlands in Western North Carolina? This small mountain town has plenty to offer, and fall is an especially special time to experience its charm.

Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Highlands really starts to show off early to mid-October through November once the leaves begin to change and fall foliage is at its peak. Characterized by cooler, sunny days and crisp evenings, this is the perfect time of year to spend your days hiking and visiting one of the many waterfalls in the area. Due to its location, you’re an easy day trip to Asheville, and the best way to get there is a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Add some leisure to your trip with a day spent along Main Street. You can easily spend an afternoon here popping in and out of the many upscale boutiques, galleries, wine shops, and restaurants it has to offer.

“Our riad in Marrakech felt hidden from the rest of the city, while the restaurants and experiences our travel designer arranged showed us a side of Marrakech we never would have found ourselves.”
